1. How to request deletion
Signed-in mobile app users can initiate permanent account deletion under Profile, Account and privacy, Request account deletion. The request is submitted directly from the authenticated account and does not require a separate email.
Web users, or users who cannot access the mobile app, can request deletion by emailing hello@obligary.co.uk from the email address linked to your Obligary account.
Please include:
- your name
- the email address used for your Obligary account
- your workspace or organisation name, if known
- whether you want your whole account deleted or only specific personal data deleted
- any extra detail that helps us identify the records you want us to review
If you cannot email us from the account email address, we may need to ask for extra information before acting on the request so that we do not delete the wrong person's data.
We will verify and process account deletion requests within 30 days and confirm completion by email. We may contact you sooner if we need information to verify the request.
2. Account deletion
If you ask us to delete your Obligary account, we will take reasonable steps to remove or disable your account profile, sign-in access, workspace memberships, mobile push notification tokens and other account-level records that we control.
If your account is linked to a customer workspace, deleting your user account does not automatically delete the whole workspace, subscription, evidence library, audit trail or other records controlled by that customer.
3. Data deletion without deleting your account
You can also ask us to delete specific personal data without closing your account. For example, you may ask us to remove a mobile device push token, review support messages, or help with a file or record that contains your personal data.
Where the data sits inside a customer workspace, we may need to coordinate with the relevant customer or workspace owner because they may decide whether the data should be deleted, retained, exported or restricted.
4. Mobile app data
The Obligary mobile app may store selected workspace data locally on your device to support offline viewing, queued evidence uploads and queued task updates.
Signing out of the mobile app is intended to clear local app cache where technically possible. You can also remove local app data by using your device settings to clear the app's storage or by uninstalling the app.
Clearing local app data removes data stored on that device. It does not by itself delete server-side account, workspace, evidence, billing or audit records.
5. Data that may be deleted
Depending on your role, workspace permissions and the nature of the request, deletion may include:
- account profile details such as your name and email address
- authentication records and active sessions
- workspace memberships linked to your user account
- mobile push notification tokens and device notification records
- selected support records or messages where deletion is appropriate
- uploaded files, photos, scans or evidence where you or the customer workspace owner has authority to request deletion
6. Data that may be kept
Some records may need to be kept even after an account or data deletion request. This can include:
- billing, invoice, tax and accounting records that we are required to keep
- security logs, access logs and abuse-prevention records for a limited period
- backup copies until they expire through normal backup rotation
- audit trails, compliance records or evidence held inside a customer workspace where the customer needs to retain them
- records needed to handle the deletion request itself
- records we must keep to comply with legal, regulatory, contractual or dispute-resolution obligations
7. Timing
We aim to acknowledge deletion requests promptly and normally respond within one month. Complex requests, identity checks, customer workspace coordination or legal retention requirements may mean a request takes longer.
If we cannot delete particular records, we will explain the reason where we are legally able to do so.
